Oluremi Tinubu meets Welby, advances interfaith dialogue, girls in tech initiative

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, has called for a balanced global understanding of Nigeria’s challenges, saying accurate perspectives are essential to achieving lasting solutions.
She made the remarks on Wednesday while receiving the former Archbishop of Canterbury, Rt Revd Justin Welby on Wednesday at her office in Abuja.

Senator Tinubu said the international community must support Nigeria’s peace efforts by avoiding misleading narratives about the country’s security situation.
“Listening to one side of the story and then concluding is a wrong approach to conflict resolution,” she said.
She also welcomed Welby’s position that Nigeria’s issues should be addressed by Nigerians who best understand the country’s peculiar realities.
“Thank you for opening up this Interfaith Dialogue, and I believe that you should also invite not just the Christians and Muslims but also the Nigeria Security to the dialogue to know what they have been doing,” the First Lady stated.
Senator Tinubu further commended members of the Armed Forces for what she described as their gallantry and sacrifices in safeguarding the nation.
In his remarks, Welby said he was lending his experience to support peacebuilding efforts in Nigeria and to strengthen the country’s reputation as a nation that protects freedom of worship.
