Oluremi Tinubu offers business support to 9,500 persons with disability nationwide

By Kunle Sanni –
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu marked the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities with a nationwide business support initiative benefiting 9,500 persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The programme, implemented through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), provides ₦200,000 financial support to each beneficiary to help them strengthen or start small businesses. The disbursement was simultaneously launched across the 36 states, the FCT, and DEPOWA formations.
The first lady officially kicked off the exercise at Mambilla Barracks, Abuja, where 250 physically challenged military and police veterans received their support. She emphasised that building an inclusive society is essential to national progress.

“Our nation grows stronger when every individual is empowered to contribute meaningfully,” she said, noting that the exercise reflects the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Senator Tinubu highlighted that RHI has supported over 100,000 women petty traders, small business owners, and PWDs since 2023 through business grants and other interventions in agriculture, education, health, and social welfare.
She also announced that the Economic Empowerment Programme for Persons with Disabilities will now be held annually every December 3, aligning with the global observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Encouraging beneficiaries, she added: “Let this be a seed that grows into something greater—a business that sustains you and your family.”
Representing the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, a senior military official described the first lady’s gesture as “compassion in action,” reinforcing ongoing RHI interventions such as medical and food outreach.
