Oyo residents deny bandit attack claims in Ayegun/Oleyo communities

By Adejayan Gbenga –

Residents of Ayegun/Oleyo communities in Oluyole LGA, Oyo State, have denied reports that bandits attacked their area.

Professor Saka Jelili, chairman of the residents’ association, said viral videos and audio clips claiming arrests of bandits in the communities are false. He urged residents to carry on with their daily routines without fear.

A joint statement by Jelili and Secretary Abimbola Ajibola clarified that individuals arrested by the Nigerian Immigration Service on November 10 in Ashipa and Paseda were not bandits and were unarmed.

The arrested individuals were taken to the Oyo State Command in Agodi, Ibadan.

“The arrests had nothing to do with banditry,” the statement said.

Jelili advised the public to ignore the viral clips and avoid spreading misinformation.
