Oluremi Tinubu seeks youth mindset shift through volunteer service

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, has called for greater youth involvement in voluntary organisations as a means of promoting positive values and community service across the country.
Speaking during her investiture as the Grand Matron of the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, Tinubu said engaging young people in humanitarian activities from an early age would help shape a culture of compassion and service.

“If they learn to help from an early age, it would not be hard on them to do it when they are old,” she said.
The First Lady described her new role as a call to greater service and pledged to contribute to the society’s humanitarian efforts. She also encouraged Nigerians to support one another whenever possible.
“I encourage people, if you have the capacity to help a neighbour in whatever way you can, do so,” she said.
Tinubu commended the Nigerian Red Cross Society for its humanitarian work across the country and expressed confidence that Nigeria would overcome its current challenges through collective effort and political commitment.

“There is no challenge that is unsurmountable if we have the right will, and we have strong political will, to do right by the nation,” she stated.
Earlier, NRCS National President, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, said the investiture recognised Tinubu’s commitment to humanitarian service through the Renewed Hope Initiative and her advocacy for women, children, families and vulnerable Nigerians.
