Oluwo accuses Ooni of plotting assassination through ex-wife

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, has accused the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, of plotting to assassinate him by allegedly “packaging” his ex-wife against him.
In a viral video posted on his official Facebook page, the monarch claimed that his former wife, who was introduced to him from Canada, was part of a grand conspiracy to kill him and destroy his throne.
“My belongings are hidden. None of you can endure what these people have done to me. They packaged a woman for me. I didn’t know her; she came from Canada. It was a setup. She was in my house for over three years, communicating with them and plotting my death,” he alleged.
According to Oba Akanbi, the woman — who later had a child whose paternity he now doubts — allegedly poisoned him twice and made several assassination attempts while secretly working with the Ooni and his allies.
“They were setting me up with videos and many things in my own house. This supposed ex-wife was asking me questions in the room, but it was death they sent into my home. She had a child, and I don’t even know if he’s my child now. I have to confirm that through DNA,” he added.
Oluwo further alleged that after he sent the woman away, the Ooni personally arranged accommodation for her and her son and met with them at a hotel.
“You now say I’m talking. If it was you, a wife wanted to kill — a wife set up in your house who tried to assassinate you multiple times — this fight would have no end. That’s how we will continue. And I can’t be killed, no matter the number of charms tried. Sango cannot kill me; Sango is my father. He is my ancestor, but a child must exceed his father. I have become king now; Sango cannot kill me. He is not a criminal. Ogun can’t kill me because he is also not a criminal. They are not criminals, so they won’t kill their children. Ogun and Sango don’t kill people. Only God, Olodumare, knows when a person will die,” he declared.
Also speaking on his alleged suspension by the Ooni, Oba Akanbi questioned the Ooni’s authority over him, stressing that no paramount ruler could suspend another.
“Can the Ooni suspend me as an Oba? Is his position higher than mine? If they are listing the top three paramount rulers in Osun, they cannot just put the three of us in the paramount ruler positions as number one,” he stated.
