The Paramount Ruler of Iwoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has congratulated the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, on his ascension to the Ibadan throne.

In a statement issued through his press secretary, Alli Ibraheem, Oba Akanbi described the former governor as a phenomenal personality whose agility and wealth of experience will make a monumental impact on the history of Ibadan’s traditional institution.

The monarch, whose mother hailed from Ibadan as a princess, recalled his maternal connection to the ancient city and emphasized the long-standing cordial relationship between Iwo and Ibadan.

He expressed confidence that Oba Ladoja’s emergence as Olubadan would further strengthen the age-old cooperation and unity between the two historic cities.

“I congratulate the good people of Ibadan, most especially Oba Rashidi Ladoja. His agility and wealth of experience as a former Governor of Oyo State will distinguish him. He will be the first former governor to become Olubadan,” the statement read.

“I have strong hope in his ability to make a difference and become a monumental Olubadan in history.”

The Oluwo also highlighted the deep collaborative ties between the two cities, noting that Iwo warriors had long been accommodated in Ibadan, a bond he described as inseparable to this day.

“While I commend the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for supporting the traditional institution, I call on the good people of Ibadan to support the new Olubadan,” Oba Akanbi added.
