Former Deputy Governor Omisore declares bid for 2026 Osun governorship race

Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Iyiola Omisore, has announced his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Omisore made the announcement on Saturday through his official X handle, stating that his formal declaration will take place on October 7, 2025, at the APC secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital.

Themed “Fix the Broken, Restore Our Dreams,” the event will mark the official launch of his campaign tagged the Osun Rescue Mission 2026.

The former senator, who represented Osun East in the National Assembly from 2003 to 2011, said his ambition was driven by the desire to restore hope and strengthen governance in the state.

“This is not just my mission, it is a collective one. I believe strongly that together, we can restore hope, strengthen governance, and deliver a brighter future for every son and daughter of Osun,” Omisore wrote.

He called on party members and residents of the state to join him at the formal declaration, describing it as the beginning of a movement to reposition Osun for progress.

Omisore, a prominent figure in Osun politics, is expected to face stiff competition both within the APC and against other contenders from rival parties ahead of the 2026 polls.
