Ondo Amotekun dismisses bribery allegation

By Boye Oyeyemi –

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, has dismissed claims that its officers bribed members of the State House of Assembly.

One Ebidumi Julius, also known as “General Adon Amotekun”, had alleged the lawmakers received money from the Corps.

But Amotekun spokesman, Superintendent Jimoh Adeniken, said the claims came from a disgruntled officer already facing trial.

“The House of Assembly only invited senior officers during an official visit, where they gave advice and stern warnings to ensure the outfit performs better,” he explained.

Adeniken said the officer behind the video is answering to five charges, including suspected murder, desertion, negligence, drug abuse, and misconduct.

“It is regrettable that while this process is ongoing, the officer has resorted to blackmail, falsehood, and mischief in an attempt to distract the Corps,” he said.

He urged the public to ignore the “sensational and anti-security” video, stressing that Amotekun remains professional, disciplined, and committed to protecting Ondo State.
