Ondo APC crisis deepens as Obe heads to court over Reps primary

Razaq Obe, an aspirant for the All Progressives Congress ticket in the Ifedore/Idanre Federal Constituency, has said he will challenge the outcome of the party’s recent primary election in court.

Obe spoke in Akure on Monday while receiving APC leaders and supporters from the constituency who visited him to express solidarity over the disputed primary.

He alleged that the primary was manipulated, saying the support from party members had strengthened his resolve to pursue the matter and reclaim what he described as his mandate.

The aspirant also dismissed reports that he had predicted President Bola Tinubu would lose Ondo State in the 2027 presidential election, explaining that his comments during a television interview were aimed at resolving divisions within the APC.

According to Obe, members working to create divisions within the party and undermine the state government were the ones threatening the president’s electoral prospects, not those calling for unity.

Meanwhile, Obe declared his support for Tinubu’s re-election and urged APC members to remain loyal to the party and its candidates, saying seeking judicial intervention over the primary was a constitutional right and preferable to self-help.

He expressed confidence that the court would restore what he described as his stolen mandate, while pledging continued loyalty to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and urging party members to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.

Obe said he remained confident that he would emerge as the APC candidate for the federal constituency in 2027, adding that he was committed to ensuring the party retained victory in the election.
