The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, has called for stronger collaboration between residents and the Nigeria Police Force, emphasising that community partnership is vital to effective crime prevention.

Lawal spoke during the commissioning of the newly renovated Metro Area Office Headquarters in Akure, a project facilitated by the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) with support from the Ondo State Government.

The office, which previously served as the state police headquarters, had fallen into disrepair over the years before the intervention.

The renovation, which cost over ₦10 million, involved re-roofing, structural repairs, installation of internal fittings and repainting of the facility.

Describing the project as a reflection of public trust in the police, Lawal commended the PCRC and community stakeholders for their commitment and support.

He stated that the gesture showed that the police had earned the confidence of the people, noting that such trust was necessary for effective policing.

Lawal also appreciated the Ondo State Government for its contributions, acknowledging that the Area Commander confirmed the government’s meaningful input in the project.

He assured that the renovated facility would enhance policing, improve service delivery and strengthen intelligence gathering across the state, while noting that the previous condition of the office had hindered operations.
