Ondo election: APC will win more states, says Oyintiloye

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has declared that the party’s triumph in the Ondo State governorship election on Saturday signals a growing trend of APC victories, particularly in states currently governed by opposition parties.

Oyintiloye, a member of the APC National Campaign Stakeholders Engagement Committee for the election, made this assertion on Monday while reacting to the party’s victory.

He highlighted the overwhelming support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, noting that the APC’s decisive victory in Ondo—where the party secured 366,781 votes compared to the 117,845 votes garnered by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—is a strong indication of the APC’s momentum in upcoming off-cycle elections.

“The massive support and votes for APC in the Ondo election foreshadow significant losses for states under opposition control during their elections,” Oyintiloye said.

He added that just as the electorate overwhelmingly supported APC in Edo and now Ondo, other states currently governed by PDP, APGA, and LP should prepare for similar outcomes.

Oyintiloye, who also served as a member of the now-defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), described the party’s recent successes as evidence of the electorate’s confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“This landslide victory demonstrates that the masses and the electorate in Ondo State still believe in APC and President Tinubu’s administration,” he said. “It is a strong signal that other states currently governed by opposition parties will soon be delivered to APC by the electorate.”

He expressed optimism that APC’s victories in Kogi, Edo, and Ondo would extend to Anambra, Ekiti, and Osun, further solidifying the party’s dominance under President Tinubu’s leadership.

“The string of successes the party has recorded since the inception of Tinubu’s presidency is a clear indication that Nigerians still believe in the APC and its leaders,” Oyintiloye remarked.

While congratulating Aiyedatiwa on his victory, Oyintiloye urged him to be magnanimous and committed to fulfilling his campaign promises. He noted that with Aiyedatiwa’s developmental blueprint, Ondo State is poised for steady growth in areas such as economic development, infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and rural community development.

He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a smooth, free, fair, and credible election.

Oyintiloye further appreciated the electorate for their peaceful conduct during the election and lauded security agencies for their professionalism in maintaining order.
