UNIOSUN Lecturer wins UI’s Best Doctoral Thesis Award

Dr. Folorunsho Emmanuel Awoniyi, a lecturer in the Department of Linguistics and Communication Studies at Osun State University, has been awarded the Best Doctoral Thesis Award at the University of Ibadan’s 76th Convocation Ceremony.
Dr. Awoniyi’s thesis, titled “A Phonological Study of Selected Yoruba English Broca’s Aphasics at the University College Hospital, Ibadan,” achieved an impressive score of 70.7%, emerging as the best among 62 submissions from Arts and Humanities-based disciplines.
The prestigious award, which includes a ₦500,000 cash prize and a commemorative plaque, recognizes Dr. Awoniyi’s exceptional scholarship and the impact of his research.
Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Awoniyi attributed his achievement to divine guidance and thanked the University of Ibadan for maintaining its tradition of academic excellence. He also extended his appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor Clement Odunayo Adebooye, for fostering a supportive academic environment.
