A former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Akindele Adeniyi, has mourned the death of renowned Yoruba leader and elder statesman, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, describing him as a selfless patriot whose contributions to Nigeria would remain enduring.
Fasoranti, who celebrated his 100th birthday on May 11, 2026, reportedly died peacefully at his residence in Akure, Ondo State, on Tuesday.
Adeniyi, who serves as Senior Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Community Engagement, Central, conveyed his condolences to the late elder statesman’s family in a statement issued on Wednesday.
He said Fasoranti’s commitment to truth, fairness and justice earned him a place in Nigeria’s history, noting that his influence extended beyond the Yoruba nation.
The former lawmaker described the deceased as a father figure whose leadership, principles and dedication to public service positively influenced many people.
“We give God the glory that Pa Fasoranti enjoyed the gift of longevity. He was a true democrat who spent decades as an educator, administrator and principled voice for good governance and federalism in Nigeria,” Adeniyi said.
He added that Fasoranti would be remembered for his integrity, selflessness and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people, particularly in Yorubaland and Nigeria at large.
“Baba will forever be remembered as a truly selfless leader who stood for justice, integrity and the welfare of our people in Yorubaland and Nigeria,” Adeniyi said, paying tribute to the late statesman’s enduring legacy of public service and advocacy for good governance.
