The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State has arrested 24,693 traffic offenders and recorded 25,324 traffic violations between January and December 2025.
FRSC Ondo State Sector Commander, Dr. Samuel Ibitoye, disclosed this on Tuesday while speaking in Akure, the state capital.
He said the offences included speeding, dangerous driving, overloading, seat belt violations, and excessive smoke emissions, among others.
Ibitoye noted that 22,482 offenders were arrested with 23,176 offences recorded in 2024, explaining that the increase in 2025 reflected the command’s intensified enforcement efforts.
The sector commander said the measures were aimed at reducing road traffic crashes, especially along state highways, adding that enforcement was carried out through patrols and mobile courts.
He stressed that overloading and speeding posed significant hazards, noting that enforcement was intended not just to punish offenders, but to change motorists’ attitudes and behaviours.
Ibitoye reiterated the command’s commitment to continued advocacy, stricter enforcement, and collaboration with adjoining commands to ensure safe transit for road users.
He urged drivers and passengers to prioritise road safety, warning that all violations would attract sanctions in line with the law.
