Ondo govt bans sale of petrol beyond 7pm

Ondo State government has banned petrol stations in the state from selling fuel after 7pm.

The government also threatened to shut down any station selling above the normal price.

Addressing journalists in Akure on Tuesday, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu on Special Duties and Strategy, Dr. Doyin Odebowale said the decision was taken to curb act of criminality and car burgling due to incessant queues at various filling stations in the state.

Odebowale emphasized that any petrol station found selling fuel after 7pm would henceforth be sealed off.

He also said that any petrol station that has fuel must sell to the public, saying the state government has the prerogative on when and how it is sold.

Dr. Odebowale, who is also the chairman of the state’s special task force team, said any petrol station selling above N165 per litre, would be sealed and the owner prosecuted.

He noted that the state government would continue to put in place measures that will allow residents of the state have access to fuel as fast as possible.
