Although, they are being owed months in salaries, civil servants in Ondo State will have salaries paid to them this month deducted to maintain the security architecture in the state, especially the Amotekun Corps.

WesternPost learnt that the workers were waiting to receive their salaries as at early Friday, with the deductions set to be made.

It was authoritatively gathered that some of the civil servants will be receiving their November 2021 salary while some will also be taking theirs for January 2022.

A top civil servant who did not want his name mentioned, said that the State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has ordered that certain amount of money should be deducted from the salaries of all workers to finance the Amotekun Corps.

“The salary would have been paid before now but the order came that we have to remove certain amount of money from the salary based on grade level.

“Most of the workers are not aware of the deductions until they see alert from their various banks,” he said.

Another civil servant, who spoke to WesternPost on the issue said it was wrong for the governor to deduct from their salaries since he receives well over N600million monthly as security vote.
