A former Students’ Union Government President of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Olawale Ijanusi (popularly known as Optimum), has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State.

Ijanusi announced his resignation in a letter obtained by WESTERN POST and addressed to the chairman of the PDP in Ikun Ward 9, Akoko South-West Local Government Area.

He explained that his exit followed a long period of reflection, noting that he could no longer align with the current direction of the party.

According to him, “When a road is no longer leading to one’s destination, wisdom demands a change of path.”

Ijanusi stated that he had remained patient and hopeful but had come to the conclusion that “a bird cannot continue to dance on a rope forever without losing balance.”

The former youth adviser to Agboola Ajayi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve within the PDP, saying the relationships and experiences he gained will remain valuable.

He added that there comes a time when “a traveller must look at the sun and know when it is evening,” stressing that the time for him to move on had come.

He appealed to the party leadership and members in his ward to accept his resignation and extended appreciation to leaders, elders and colleagues who worked with him over the years.
