The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspected kidnappers during a stop-and-search operation along the Ilara Road axis of the state.
The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who said the suspects were intercepted by operatives of the Rapid Response Team at Ibule Junction.
According to the police, the suspects, identified as Umar, Muhammadu and Sabiu, were apprehended during a routine patrol aimed at preventing crime across the state.

A search conducted on them led to the recovery of a machete, a locally fabricated revolver pistol, one live cartridge and a Bajaj motorcycle.
The police said the suspects failed to give a satisfactory explanation for being in possession of the items.
Investigators added that the suspects made confessional statements after their arrest, providing information that has helped security operatives identify other members of the gang.
The command said efforts had been intensified to arrest other fleeing suspects, noting that those found culpable would be prosecuted after investigations are concluded.

Commending the operatives, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebowale Lawal, reassured residents of the command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations to protect lives and property.
