By Boye Oyeyemi –

The Ondo State Government has commenced the training of 75,000 youths in broiler production as part of efforts to reduce unemployment and boost poultry meat supply across the state.

The training, held in Isuada, Owo Local Government Area, was organised by the Ondo State Agribusiness Empowerment Centre (OSAEC) under the initiative tagged “Adiye Irorun”.

Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Empowerment and Job Creation, Mr Orioye Gbayisemore, said the programme was designed to empower youths and make them self-reliant. He added that the project would have a multiplier effect on the state’s economy.

“Adiye Irorun will make our youths employed in Ondo State. Our ease has come, and youths are enjoying it. A lot of resources have been budgeted for this programme. This programme will enable them to learn and earn money substantially,” he said.

Director of Livestock at OSAEC, Mr James Akinbuwa, described the project as laudable, adding that broiler production has vast economic potential. He noted that the first batch of beneficiaries would help promote the initiative and inspire others to join.

According to him, participants will receive training on modern poultry techniques, disease control, and marketing strategies, with support to start their own poultry businesses and access market opportunities.

A beneficiary, Mr Pamilerin Opabisi, thanked Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for approving the project, while another participant, Miss Excel Emmanuel, said the initiative would enable her to become financially independent and contribute to food production in the state.
