Ondo Varsity in grief over registrar’s sudden death

The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo State, has been plunged into mourning following the unexpected death of its Registrar, Mr Ezekiel Adeniran, who reportedly passed away in the early hours of Thursday.
Details surrounding the death of the 41-year-old remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.
The university community is said to be in shock, especially given that Mr Adeniran was actively on duty earlier in the week.
Reacting to the news, the institution’s Head of Media and Protocol, Mr Isaac Oluyi, described the incident as heartbreaking, noting that the late registrar was at work as recently as Monday, July 14.
In an official statement, Oluyi said, “The tragic news of Mr Adeniran’s death has cast a dark cloud over the university. It was completely unexpected.
“He was at his desk performing his duties on Monday, July 14. As of now, the exact cause of his death remains unknown.
“Mr Adeniran assumed office as UNIMED’s third substantive registrar on January 6, 2025, and served diligently until his sudden passing today, July 17, 2025.
“Our heartfelt condolences go to his family and the entire university community during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace.”
