Tinubu will protect dignity of Buhari’s family – Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured the family of late former President Muhammadu Buhari and the people of Katsina State that the Tinubu-led Federal Government will continue to uphold and protect their dignity, honour, and legacy.

Shettima gave the assurance on Thursday during the third-day Fidau prayer held in Daura for the repose of the late President’s soul. Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he said Buhari’s contributions to justice, governance, and national integrity would never be forgotten.

“The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will continue to protect the image and dignity of Buhari’s family and the entire people of Katsina State,” Shettima said.

He described Buhari as a sincere advocate of justice, even when misunderstood, citing Islamic scholar Ibn Khaldun’s emphasis on justice as central to human civilisation.

“In death, President Muhammadu Buhari has proved to the world that he is, indeed, one of the greatest sons of Africa,” he added.

Shettima also conveyed President Tinubu’s personal grief over the passing of his longtime friend and political ally, calling Buhari a “brother and political soulmate.”

He noted that he would accompany Buhari’s family back to Abuja for a special valedictory session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in honour of the late leader.

Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his support, saying the President allowed 25 ministers to attend the funeral and declared a public holiday on the day of Buhari’s burial.
