One killed, teacher abducted as gunmen storm Ondo community

Suspected kidnappers have reportedly killed one person and abducted two others during an attack on Imafon community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The incident, which occurred on Monday night, threw residents into panic as the assailants reportedly invaded the community and carried out the attack.

One of the victims abducted was identified as Mr Durojaye Fagbonmire, a teacher serving in the community, according to information released by the Itaogbolu News Update Management.

The community group disclosed that Fagbonmire was seized by the gunmen while carrying out his teaching responsibilities in the area.

The development has heightened fears among residents of Imafon and neighbouring communities, with families of the victims anxiously awaiting news of their whereabouts.

In a statement, the group described the incident as disturbing and appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts toward rescuing the abducted victims and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

As of press time, the identity of the second kidnapped victim and that of the deceased had yet to be officially confirmed, while details surrounding the attack remained unclear.

Efforts to get a reaction from security agencies were also unsuccessful, as no official statement had been issued on the incident at the moment.
