One Nigerian referee listed as CAF unveils 64 officials for CHAN 2025

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled a list of 64 referees selected to officiate at the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025, scheduled to take place next month. Only one Nigerian referee, Abdulsalam Kasimu Abiola, made the list.
According to the list released by CAF, 25 center referees were selected, with Abdulsalam Kasimu Abiola being the sole Nigerian deemed fit to officiate matches at the tournament.
In addition, 25 assistant referees and 14 VAR officials were named, but none of Nigeria’s referees were included in these categories.
The 2025 CHAN will be hosted across three countries—Kenya, Ethiopia, and Uganda—and will run from February 1 to February 28, 2025.
The tournament is dedicated to players who ply their trade in their respective domestic leagues.
