Opposition crises show they are unprepared to govern Nigeria, APC chairman says

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has said Nigerians cannot entrust opposition parties with leadership of the country due to ongoing internal crises within their ranks.
Yilwatda made this known in Abuja while speaking on Nigeria’s political and economic management, according to a statement issued by his spokesman, Abimbola Tooki, on Wednesday.
He argued that political parties facing persistent internal conflicts lack the capacity to manage national affairs, stressing that stability within a party is a prerequisite for effective governance.
“A party that cannot govern itself cannot govern Nigeria,” Yilwatda said.
He added that any political platform plagued by internal disputes, poor management, and internal sabotage should not be seeking the mandate to lead the country.
The APC chairman described the ruling party as a stable and experienced political organisation with the structure and national spread required to address Nigeria’s governance challenges. He noted that the party is focused on strengthening governance, promoting democratic values, and restoring public confidence in leadership.
According to him, the APC remains committed to supporting reforms aimed at ensuring long-term economic stability and national development, despite the difficult decisions often associated with governance.
Yilwatda also said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu faces significant nation-building responsibilities that require patience and political courage.
