Opposition parties can’t unseat Tinubu in 2027, says Okonkwo

Former spokesperson for the Obi/Datti campaign organisation, Kenneth Okonkwo, has expressed doubts about the opposition’s ability to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Okonkwo claimed that Tinubu manipulated the Nigerian system to secure his presidency and will not allow the opposition to unseat him.

In an interview with Arise TV on Tuesday, he criticized opposition parties for failing to hold the government accountable and for not convincing Nigerians that they can offer better governance.

Okonkwo emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration within opposition groups to effectively challenge the ruling party.

He also argued that the Nigerian electoral and judicial systems have been compromised, citing the courts’ discretion given to INEC on election matters as evidence.

Okonkwo warned that without coming together and strengthening their platforms, the opposition’s efforts to take power from Tinubu would be futile.

The former LP Chieftain agreed with former Jigawa State governor’s stance that the opposition needs to unite and fulfill their responsibility of holding the current administration accountable if they hope to succeed in future elections.

He criticized the courts for not upholding the law during the last presidential election cases, suggesting that they favored the ruling party.
