Organizers unveil logo for 2024 Oyo State GSM U-20 Football League in Ibadan

The Oyo State Football Association, under the leadership of the Alakinyele of Akinyele, HRM Oba James Odeniran, in collaboration with Peculiar Ultimate, unveiled the logo for the 2024 Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde (GSM) U-20 Football League on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, in Ibadan.
Highlighting the vision behind the sponsorship, Mr. Lekan Adeleke, who represented the Chairman of Peculiar Ultimate, stated that the initiative aligns with Governor Makinde’s vision of creating opportunities for youth development in the state.
“We’re incredibly proud to be associated with Governor Seyi Makinde for this laudable initiative. His outstanding performance in governance has inspired us to sponsor this league.
“We aim to build on his vision and create a platform for Oyo’s youth to thrive. This will set the stage for a strong and prosperous future in the state,” said Adeleke.
“To be successful, we must innovate and push boundaries. This bold, dynamic logo symbolizes the power of youth while paying homage to both our Governor and Oyo State. Also, our collaboration with the Oyo FA in sponsoring this league will help uncover hidden talents across the state.”
Representing the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke, Mrs. Adegoke commended the efforts of the Oyo FA and Peculiar Ultimate.
She affirmed that the initiative is in line with Governor Makinde’s commitment to empowering the youth.
“We sincerely appreciate Peculiar Ultimate for spearheading this initiative. It reflects their dedication to youth empowerment and talent discovery. Kudos to the Oyo FA for their proactive approach to youth development. This program aligns perfectly with Governor Seyi Makinde’s vision of nurturing the potential of our state’s youth,” she said.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, HRM Oba James Odeniran, thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for his commitment to youth development and expressed gratitude to Peculiar Ultimate for sponsoring the league.
He also highlighted Peculiar Ultimate’s previous support for 3SC, Osun FA, and Edo Queens, praising their sustained impact on Nigerian football.
“We commend Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering support for youth development in Oyo State. Our gratitude also goes to Peculiar Ultimate for their goodwill and consistent support for the GSM U-20 Football League. Without the stakeholders here today, there would be no FA,” he said.
The former FIFA badge referee added: “As an institution, we remain committed to upholding the rules of the game. Peculiar Ultimate’s involvement with Oyo FA, 3SC, Osun FA, and Edo Queens is commendable. They will always hold a special place in the heart of the FA.”
Outlining the competition’s rules, Oyo FA Secretary, Mr. Kehinde Ojelowo, announced the prizes for winners. The champion will receive ₦500,000, the runner-up ₦300,000, and the third-place team ₦200,000. Additional awards will be given for Best Goalkeeper, Highest Goal Scorer, and Best Referee.
Registration for the league commenced on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, and will close on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.
