Osifo arrives at APC collation centre as Tinubu sweeps presidential primary results

The sole challenger to President Bola Tinubu in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary, Stanley Osifo, arrived at the collation and declaration centre at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja on Sunday as results from across the country showed overwhelming support for the incumbent president.

Osifo arrived at the venue around 2:30 p.m., dressed in white traditional southern attire and a matching white hat. He was received by party leaders and supporters at the ongoing collation exercise.

His appearance came as state-by-state results from Saturday’s APC presidential primary continued to indicate a landslide performance for Tinubu, with Osifo recording zero votes in several states.

Results submitted to the Presidential Primary Elections Committee by state collation officers — many of them serving governors — showed Tinubu sweeping votes in the Federal Capital Territory, Delta, Kogi, Ebonyi, Jigawa, Borno, Kwara, Enugu, Kebbi, Ondo, Edo and Kaduna states, among others.

In the FCT, collation officer Philip Adeduda announced that all 36,103 votes cast went to Tinubu.

Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo reported that Tinubu secured all 197,370 votes cast in the state, while Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori declared that Tinubu polled all 407,646 votes recorded in Delta.

Similarly, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru announced 207,579 votes for Tinubu, while Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi reported 206,520 votes for the president.

Despite the dominant showing by Tinubu, Osifo recorded votes in a handful of states. In Anambra State, he secured 383 votes against Tinubu’s 43,034. He also polled 1,007 votes in Abia out of 162,012 total votes cast, 2,675 votes in Kano out of 503,527, 229 votes in Katsina out of 467,232, and 929 votes in Oyo where Tinubu secured 142,754 votes.

Osifo had entered the race after purchasing the APC presidential nomination form for N100 million, insisting on contesting after an earlier consensus arrangement within the party failed to materialise.
