Osimhen, Lookman, Akor on target as Super Eagles defeat Mozambique 4-0

By Tosin Omojola –
Nigeria’s smooth run in the Africa Cup of Nations, being held in Morocco, continued on Monday night in Fez as the Super Eagles defeated Mozambique 4-0 to qualify for the quarter-finals.
The Nigerian side entered the encounter as favourites, and they affirmed this with their dominance over the Mozambicans.
Ademola Lookman opened the scoring in the 20th minute when he lashed onto a pass from Adams Akor to net his third goal of the tournament and Nigeria’s first of the night.
Five minutes later, it was Victor Osimhen’s turn as he converted the ball for his second goal of the tournament and Nigeria’s second of the game, after Lookman’s cross took a slight deflection off Akor’s boot.
The Eric Chelle-tutored side went into the break with a two-goal advantage, only to continue their dominance in the second half.
Barely two minutes into the restart, Lookman made a dashing run into the opponents’ goal area before finding Osimhen, who made no mistake slotting the ball home from close range for the Eagles’ third goal of the night and Osimhen’s third of the tournament.
Adams Akor scored his first goal of the AFCON when he unleashed a powerful shot, assisted by Lookman, leaving the hapless Mozambicans with no answer.
