Osimhen, Oshoala make final shortlist for CAF best players’ awards
Nigeria’s duo of Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala have both made the final three shortlist for the African Player of the Year in the men and women categories respectively.
CAF released the final shortlist on Thursday for the event slated for Thursday in Marrakech, Morocco.
Osimhen will slug it out with Egypt and Liverpool striker, Mohammed Salah and Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi.
Oshoala will be hoping for a record-extending sixth-time win when she slugs it out against Thembi Kgatlana of South Africa and Zambia’s Barbara Banda.
The ultimate winner of each category is decided following votes from a panel consisting of CAF Technical Committee, media professionals from Member Associations, Head Coaches & Captains of Member Associations and clubs involved in the group stages of the Interclub competitions.
The Awards Gala will take place on Monday, 11 December 2023, at the Palais des Congrès, Movenpick, Marrakech, Morocco at 19H00 local time (18H00 GMT).
