Osun 2026: 1.9m PVCs collected ahead of governorship election — INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected by registered voters in Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The figure represents 81.50 per cent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the state, according to the commission.
INEC disclosed this in a statement on Friday, a day before the August 15 governorship election.
It said the remaining 432,843 PVCs, representing 18.50 per cent of the registered voters, had been securely deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in line with its established practice.
The commission also disclosed that 6,101 voters who applied for replacement of damaged, defaced or lost PVCs had printed downloadable copies of their voter cards.
INEC said a polling-unit-by-polling-unit breakdown of the collected PVCs had been published on its website.
The commission assured political parties, civil society organisations, the media and residents of Osun State of its readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive election.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 15.
