Osun 2026: APC warns members against divisive politics

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has cautioned members to avoid actions that could tarnish the party’s image due to personal interests.
In a statement issued by the APC Chairman in Osun State, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, through the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the chairman expressed concern over the conduct of some members promoting division and disrupting unity within the party.
Lawal condemned the activities of those creating discord over the choice of the party’s governorship candidate for the 2026 election. He urged them to exercise patience and await the party’s official directive on the matter.
He described the situation as a display of indiscipline by some stakeholders, whose desperate actions were jeopardizing the party’s cohesion.
“I am worried and surprised by the way some members and leaders of our party are openly campaigning for their preferred governorship aspirants when the ban on such activities has not been lifted. This behavior is detrimental to the party,” Lawal said.
He added, “It is selfish and irresponsible for anyone to allow personal ambitions to tear our party apart. Our party is built on the principles of the rule of law, justice, and fairness.
“Rest assured that when the time comes, the process of selecting our governorship candidate will be transparent, guided by divine intervention and the party’s constitution.”
Lawal called on party members to prioritize unity and cooperation to achieve the party’s goals in the upcoming elections.
He emphasized that the people of Osun State were eagerly anticipating the APC’s return to power at the Bola Ige House, Abere, and urged members to focus on collective aspirations.
He warned that any member found deliberately promoting discord would face serious disciplinary measures in line with the party’s constitution.
“For the record, the leadership of our party has not endorsed any candidate at this time. We will address the matter at the appropriate time, ensuring fairness and inclusivity,” Lawal assured.
The chairman reiterated the importance of teamwork, urging members to set aside personal ambitions for the greater good of the party and the state.
