Osun 2026: Oyinlola-led alliance backs APM candidate, rejects Accord speculation

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
Former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, alongside former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, and former National Vice Chairman (South-West) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo, has endorsed the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Hon. Adewale Adebayo, ahead of the August 15 governorship election in the state.
Oyinlola also dismissed claims that the alliance involving members of the PDP was working for the Accord Party, insisting that its support was firmly behind the APM and its candidates in the forthcoming elections.
The former governor spoke on Wednesday at his residence in Okuku, Osun State, after a meeting with Adebayo and the party’s National and State Assembly candidates.
According to him, the alliance between the APM and the PDP was formed to create a formidable political force ahead of the 2026 governorship election and the 2027 general elections.
“There is an alliance between APM and PDP. That was formalised some time ago. There’s an alliance and it is that alliance that we are building our strategy on for the forthcoming elections. This is an endorsement for APM candidates and no other party,” Oyinlola said.
Also speaking, Oladipo said many residents had lost confidence in both the Accord Party and the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that the APM had emerged as a credible alternative for the people of the state.
Akinbade, on his part, urged the party’s candidates not to take the contest lightly, stressing the need for hard work and commitment to secure victory at the polls.
Adebayo described the Osun governorship election as a litmus test for the 2027 general elections and expressed confidence that the support of the PDP structure would boost his chances of victory.
