Osun APC, Adeleke clash over Amotekun commander, Akinlalu killings

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has challenged Governor Ademola Adeleke to demonstrate his commitment to justice and the rule of law by producing the Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Mr. Isaac Adekunle Omoyele, for police investigation over the recent Akinlalu killings.

In a statement on Sunday, the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, accused the governor of allegedly shielding the Amotekun boss, describing such conduct as condemnable, irresponsible, wicked, and unpatriotic.

Olabisi noted that Adeleke had earlier praised the police for their handling of the Akinlalu investigation but insisted that he must prove he was not merely paying lip service to justice.

He alleged that the governor was being linked to attempts to aid and abet crimes, citing his former Chief Security Officer, Omoyele, who allegedly went into hiding after police dismissed claims of an assassination attempt on him.

According to Olabisi, the only way for the governor to redeem his image and that of his administration is to hand over the Amotekun commander to law enforcement for investigation.

However, Governor Adeleke, through his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, dismissed the opposition’s claims as baseless and described them as the antics of a losing party seeking relevance.

Adeleke reiterated his trust in the police and warned against politicizing the tragic incident, emphasizing the importance of allowing due process to prevail.

He stated that the Akinlalu case was strictly a matter of law and order and assured that his administration would not interfere with the ongoing investigation by the police.
