State congress reflects party unity – Ondo PDP knocks critics

By Boye Oyeyemi –
The Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State has dismissed allegations by a group within the party, Kick Against Deceit, claiming irregularities in its recently concluded state congress.
In a statement by its Director of Media and Public Communication, Comrade Wande Ajayi, the party described the claims as false and mischievous, saying they were aimed at discrediting a transparent and unifying process.
Ajayi said the congress was conducted in full compliance with the party’s constitution and guidelines approved by the National Working Committee, with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission observing the exercise.
He explained that some individuals listed as signatories to the critical statement, such as Charles Adeduro, Caroline Olupitan, Pat Ojo, and Dagbatan Anjorin Peter, had since denied any involvement, exposing what he called the deceitful intent behind the publication.
According to him, the PDP in Ondo has, for the first time in years, demonstrated unity of purpose and readiness to reclaim power through democratic engagement and transparent leadership selection.
Ajayi said those behind the false claims were known for opposing reforms meant to reposition the party, adding that their frustration stemmed from the end of imposition and manipulation.
He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to rebuilding trust and strengthening its grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ajayi urged members to disregard the baseless claims and remain focused on the renewed vision of the newly elected state executive committee.
