Osun APC condemns Adeleke’s alleged move to ally with Aregbesola, ADC

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke for allegedly seeking a political alliance with former governor Rauf Aregbesola and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to contest the 2026 governorship election under the party.
In a statement by its chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the APC described Adeleke’s move as an act of desperation and a complete lack of honor. The party recalled that the governor, some months ago, had hurled insults at Aregbesola, accusing him of plunging Osun into debt, paying half salaries, distributing scam tablets, and leaving several fanciful, inflated, and uncompleted projects.
According to Lawal, “No one would have envisaged that Adeleke would one day contemplate a political rapprochement with Aregbesola, whom he called unprintable names just four months ago. It is strange that Adeleke now sees Aregbesola as his political messiah, without whom his second-term ambition is in danger, given the legal hurdles being faced by the PDP at the national level.”
Lawal accused Adeleke of running a government of deceit, citing the alleged failure to create jobs for the state’s youths, the sack of 1,500 teachers, the alleged duping of over 32,000 job applicants who participated in the teachers’ recruitment, and hikes in tuition fees across Osun tertiary institutions despite earning over ₦1 trillion in 35 months.
The APC further recalled how Adeleke had allegedly betrayed top PDP figures, including former Speaker Adejare Bello, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, and Omooba Dotun Babayemi.
“We, as a party, are appealing to the electorate to look before they leap, as the collusion between Adeleke and the former minister for ‘prison breaks’ would further impoverish citizens and destroy the future of the state,” Lawal said.
He added, “It is pertinent to know that 2026 is a payback time, as stated by Adeleke himself, when Osun State people will punish the former Governor Aregbesola and his new party (ADC) for wilfully inflicting pains and suffering on Osun people throughout his eight years’ rule. The people should heed the counsel of Adeleke by rejecting the ADC at the polls in 2026.”
