Osun APC denies thuggery allegations against governorship candidate Oyebamiji
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations that its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, is fraternising with hoodlums, describing the claims as misplaced, uncalled for, and lacking proper reasoning.
The Adeleke Campaign Organisation had alleged Oyebamiji’s association with controversial figures such as D’Law and Asiri Eniba, insisting that such links would not stop Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the August 15 governorship election.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the APC Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, also dismissed the Adeleke Campaign Organisation as non-existent, describing it as a fabricated group working for the governor.
He said the allegations reflected growing political tension ahead of the election, adding that Oyebamiji was well positioned to win.
According to him, “There is no amount of misinformation about our party, whose fortune is increasing daily through massive defection of members of the Accord Party and other parties, that would prevent the imminent sack of Governor Adeleke from the Bola Ige House on August 15, 2026.”
Olabisi also criticised the opposition’s claims, alleging inconsistency in their stance on political violence in the state.
“It is paradoxical for handlers of the Accord Party, who are known for promoting violent political activities in the state, to accuse our peace-loving governorship candidate, AMBO, of harbouring political thugs,” he said.
He further alleged that the Adeleke administration has turned the Government House in Osogbo into a safe haven for fugitives from justice, claims he said are being shielded under constitutional immunity.
