The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has directed its members, particularly council chairmen and councillors, to stay off their respective council secretariats until further notice.

The State APC chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, said the decision was made as a sign of respect for the late Chairman of Irewole Local Government Area, Hon. Remi Abass, who was killed in Ikire on Monday.

Lawal, who described the killing of the local government boss as inhuman, wicked, and callous, assured that the party would do everything necessary to ensure justice is served.

He commended all the council chairmen for acting in accordance with the Court of Appeal judgment that secured victory for them the Monday before last.

The APC chairman urged the police to arrest, investigate, and prosecute the killers and their sponsors.

He sympathized with the immediate family members, political associates, and all the progressive-loving people of Ikire over the needless, gruesome murder of Alhaji Abass.

Lawal promised that the leadership of the party would do everything necessary to ensure that the chairman of Irewole Local Government Area did not die in vain.

He reminded the colleagues of the deceased and other party members that the only way to sustain Abass’s legacy is to remain committed to the party’s collective aspirations.
