Osun APC endorses Tinubu for 2027, receives 5 federal lawmakers

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027 and formally received two senators and three members of the House of Representatives who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The lawmakers — Senators Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East) and Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun West), alongside Hon. Oluwole Oke (Ijesha North), Taofeek Ajilesoro (Ife Central), and Omirin Olusanya (Ijesha South) — were welcomed at a rally held at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park in Osogbo.
Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, who leads the party in the state, said President Tinubu inherited an economy at the brink and took bold decisions that are already yielding positive results.
He cited improved foreign exchange stability, reduced fuel importation, over $50 billion in investment commitments, student loans for more than 200,000 beneficiaries, support for nano businesses and vulnerable households, and strengthened local government autonomy as key achievements.
Oyetola also noted that several Osun indigenes had been appointed into key federal positions, ensuring the state maintains a strong voice at the centre. He said the Renewed Hope Agenda justifies the party’s endorsement of Tinubu for a second term.
He described the lawmakers’ defection as courageous and strategic, expressing confidence that their entry would enhance efforts to reclaim Osun in the 2026 governorship election.
APC governorship candidate Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji called the new entrants political heavyweights whose presence would expand the party’s base ahead of the 2026 and 2027 polls.
State APC chairman Tajudeen Lawal said the defections marked a significant moment in Osun’s political history, adding that endorsing Tinubu now was vital to sustain what he termed the president’s transformative programmes.
