APC faults Adeleke’s performance in Osun, urges voters to reject his re-election

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said Governor Ademola Adeleke should be voted out of office in the 2026 governorship election, citing what it described as shortcomings in his administration.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC alleged that the governor’s academic credentials remain controversial, noting that the constitution requires a minimum of a secondary school certificate for governorship aspirants.

Olabisi also accused the Adeleke administration of financial recklessness, claiming that the state government has received more than N400 billion in 39 months but that projects on the ground do not reflect the level of income.

The party further alleged that government officials have been unable to explain the details or costs of projects undertaken by the state government, claiming that most of the projects are handled by individuals linked to members of the Adeleke family.

He also accused the governor of disregarding court judgments, particularly appellate court decisions on local government matters, while alleging that some chieftaincy disputes in towns such as Awo, Igbajo, Ikirun and Iree were influenced by executive orders issued by the state government.

The APC also raised concerns about the condition of the Osun State House of Assembly complex, stating that lawmakers have continued to stay in hotels in Osogbo after the roof of the complex was removed during the early period of the Adeleke administration.

Olabisi further alleged that the recent recruitment of teachers into public primary and secondary schools in the state was unfairly distributed, claiming that out of the 876 teachers recruited, 88 slots were allocated to the governor’s hometown of Ede.

“The manner in which the teachers’ recruitment exercise was conducted raises serious concerns about fairness and transparency. Out of the 876 teachers recruited, 88 slots were allegedly allocated to the governor’s hometown of Ede, while several others went to political office holders and party leaders. We condemn the entire process, which we consider a monumental sham carried out by the Adeleke-led administration,” he added.
