Osun APC Hails Tinubu, Aregbesola’s Reconciliation Move

Moves by the two paramount rulers in Yorubaland, the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11 and Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi 111 to reconcile Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola has received kudos from members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State.
The two prominent royal fathers on Tuesday held a closed door meeting in Ibadan with Aregbesola in order to resolve the lingering rift between the two political leaders.
The meeting was held at the private residence of the Alaafin of Oyo.
Speaking with our correspondent in Osogbo, factional secretary of the party in the state, Lani Baderinwa described the reconciliation move as a good development.
Baderinwa said it was so unfortunate that the two political figures have disagreements which escalated for long period.
His words: “The move is a good development because basically there is no disagreement that could not be settled in life. No matter how hot, how bad, how harsh it is, the reality of the situation is to be able to dissect the issues involved in the disagreement and be able to see through issues, be able to apportion blames where necessary and be able to say this is where you have erred, or this is where you have done well.”
Baderinwa, who was the former commissioner for Information and Strategy during Aregbesola’s administration expressed optimism that the disagreement between the two gladiators would be settled if the people trying to reconcile them put the issues in proper perspective.
“Aregbesola is a man who is very loyal to Asiwaju Tinubu and it is so unfortunate this happened. Aregbesola has spoken so much about the relationship between him and Asiwaju. I think he has contributed so much to whatever perception people have about Asiwaju and I believe that they will be able to have a rapprochement at the end of the day,” he added.
When asked if the reconciliation is not late, Baderinwa said: “It is never too late, there has never been any lateness in having reconciliation particularly if it is genuine. But it depends on how the reconciliation is handled.”
Speaking in the same vein, the party’s Director of Publicity and Strategy, Barr. Kunle Oyatomi said the intervention of the two first class Obas cannot be misplaced.
Oyatomi said: “Reconciliation is key in the affairs of human beings. We cannot just wish it away. The move is a welcome development. Surely, there is an end to any disagreement. So, this one between this duo will end, and end well.
“In politics, 24 hours is a very long period. It’s never late. Five months is like five minutes. These are mature men. You will agree with me that both personalities are not strangers to each other. They have come a long way, either as politicians or individuals, master or lieutenant, they know it other than the way I, or anyone know them. Aregbesola boasts of Asiwaju, as his boss, from whom he learnt the art of politics. That’s non-controversial, and politically correct.
“The knock-on effect is electrifying. Even the opposition party like PDP will be disappointed. They had wished that the matter is never resolved. However, a lot of lessons would be learnt for future guidance.
“The current governor of the state, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola has the ability to understand inner qualities or relationship involved in the brouhaha. He’s on top of the matter. It’s a win-win situation for him. And the coming guber election in the state has already been made easy for him.”
