Osun debt drops from N148bn to N83bn under Adeleke — TICC

‎By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
‎
‎The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has said Osun State’s domestic debt has been significantly reduced from about N148 billion in December 2022 to N83.32 billion by the first quarter of 2025 under Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration.
‎
‎Similarly, the council said the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), which stood at N24.47 billion in 2022, increased to N58.7 billion in 2025, representing a 139.89 per cent rise.
‎
‎Speaking on Sunday at the inauguration of the Imole Media Centre in Osogbo, the Director-General of the council, Senator Olalere Oyewumi, said the government also ensured the harmonisation and digitalisation of revenue collection to streamline the tax structure and reduce human interference in order to block leakages.
‎
‎Oyewumi said the administration had cleared 18 months out of the 30 months of half-salary liabilities inherited from the previous administration in the state.
‎
‎The council’s Director-General further disclosed that the government had fully paid the 28-month contributory pension arrears owed to retirees by previous administrations in Osun State.
‎
‎Oyewumi said the Adeleke administration had recorded achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, sports development, road construction, urban renewal, and ease of doing business.
‎
‎He also said the Imole 2.0 agenda of the administration would focus on youth and women empowerment, infrastructure consolidation, agro-industrial expansion, affordable healthcare and education, as well as an improved business environment.
‎
‎He, however, called on security agencies, particularly the Osun State Police Command, to avoid plunging the state into avoidable tension and chaos through selective enforcement of the law or shielding perpetrators of violent crimes from justice as the election draws near.
