Osun election a warning for Kwara APC, Sanni says

An All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant in Kwara State, Engr. Femi Sanni Araba, has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the governorship election, describing the outcome as a warning on the importance of internal cohesion, fairness and inclusion in political parties.

Araba, in a congratulatory message, also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing an enabling environment for a credible electoral process and praised the Independent National Electoral Commission for its conduct of the election.

He urged APC stakeholders in Kwara to draw lessons from the Osun election, particularly on the need to manage internal differences through dialogue, fairness and reconciliation ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to him, disagreements are inevitable within political parties, but the ability to manage them constructively is critical to the survival and success of any political organisation.

“Every political family will have differences, and the strength of a party lies in how it manages those differences. There is a time to win and a time to lose. Politics requires the wisdom to win some and lose some, because today’s winner may need yesterday’s loser tomorrow,” he said.

Araba said concerns raised by various stakeholders within the Kwara APC should not automatically be viewed as opposition to the party or its leadership, urging that such concerns be given a fair hearing and assessed on their merits.

He therefore called on the APC National Working Committee to consider the concerns and positions being expressed by stakeholders, listen to all sides and act in the overall interest of the party, warning that unresolved grievances could become more difficult to address during elections.

“Osun has given us a lesson. We should have the wisdom to learn from it without having to experience the same outcome. The task before us is to build a stronger, more united APC in Kwara, where every genuine concern is heard and every decision is guided by fairness, merit and the collective interest of the party,” Araba said.
