APC must learn from defeat in Osun election, prepare for 2027 — Oyintiloye
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged party members and leaders to learn from the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election and begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, made the call while speaking with newsmen on Monday in Osogbo, urging members not to be discouraged by the defeat but to use the experience to strengthen the party’s structures and address areas requiring improvement.
He called on APC members to remain united, disciplined and focused, urging them to return to the grassroots, listen to the people and build on the momentum generated by the election.
Oyintiloye commended President Bola Tinubu for his intervention and support before and during the election, describing it as a demonstration of leadership and commitment to the growth of the party in Osun.
He said Tinubu successfully balanced his role as APC leader and president, adding that his intervention renewed confidence among party members and energised the party’s structures across the state.
The APC chieftain said the party’s performance, with more than 444,000 votes against an incumbent government, demonstrated that it remained a formidable force in Osun and had a strong foundation to build on ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Oyintiloye also appreciated former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Hon. James Faleke, APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, and other party leaders, stakeholders, candidates, members and supporters for their contributions to the party’s campaign.
“What we have built is bigger than one election. We have strengthened our structures, tested our capacity and demonstrated our resilience. Our responsibility now is to learn from the outcome, remain united and prepare for the future,” he said.
