Osun APC reviews election results, consults lawyers

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said it is studying the results of the 2026 governorship election across the 332 wards in the state to determine its next line of action.
The party, in a statement signed by its director of media and information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, on Sunday, said it was considering the constitutional options available to it following the declaration of the election results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Olabisi noted that the election could not be considered concluded without exploring all constitutionally permitted legal avenues to address anomalies observed during the process, as provided for under the Electoral Act 2026, as amended.
“We make bold to state categorically that as a progressive party founded on the unalloyed principles of the rule of law, fairness and justice, we shall not hesitate to explore, without further delay, the avenues provided by the extant Electoral Act after due consultation with our team of lawyers and based on their professional advice.
“The new development is a beauty of democracy with reference to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s declared governorship election results in the state, which would not propel us to deviate from embracing the culture of the rule of law,” he said.
The APC commended its members and supporters for their steadfastness, sagacity and loyalty, as well as their contributions to the election, while urging them to remain calm and refrain from responding to any provocative action or inaction by members of the ruling party.
The APC also appealed to the Nigeria Police Force to protect its members and supporters, whom it alleged were being needlessly molested by members of the ruling party.
The party described the current situation as a passing phase in the political history of Osun State, expressing confidence that justice would ultimately be served.
