Adeleke credits God, Osun voters for re-election, denies ADC pact

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has attributed his re-election to God and the people of the state, while denying claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that the party helped secure his victory in the governorship election.

The ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, had said the party collaborated with the Accord Party to prevent the All Progressives Congress (APC) from winning the election.

However, Adeleke, in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said the ADC was not part of the political coalition that canvassed support for his re-election.

“ADC was never part of the rainbow coalition that canvassed and supported his battle for last Saturday’s election,” he said.

The governor commended his political partners for their sacrifices and contributions towards what he described as a victory for the people of Osun State.

“I commend political partners who went all out to make Saturday a victory day for all Osun people. But we must clarify, for the sake of history, that ADC was never part of the alliance,” he said.

Adeleke said his administration would now focus on governing the state without political or other forms of discrimination.

“Now that the election is over, I am a governor of all Osun people, irrespective of political groups, religion or race,” the governor was quoted as saying.
