KWASAA to hold campaign advertising stakeholders’ engagement ahead of 2027 elections

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) will hold a one-day stakeholders’ engagement on advertisement and campaign communications in Kwara State.
The engagement, scheduled for Thursday, August 27, 2026, is being organised in collaboration with the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) and will bring together political parties, political actors, advertising practitioners, media organisations, security agencies and other relevant stakeholders.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday in Ilorin, the Acting General Manager of KWASAA, Oloruntoba Adeyeye, said the event would take place at the Ilorin Innovation Hub, Ahmadu Bello Way, Ilorin, beginning at 10 a.m.
Adeyeye said as the nation approaches the 2027 general elections, it has become necessary to create a common understanding among stakeholders on the rules guiding political advertising, campaign communications and the use of public spaces for advertisements.
He said the engagement would provide an opportunity for stakeholders to understand applicable regulatory requirements, address concerns and clarify issues relating to permits, campaign advertisements, billboards, signage and other forms of political communication.
According to him, the engagement would also allow security agencies and other stakeholders to raise concerns within their areas of responsibility, while practitioners and political actors would have the opportunity to engage directly with relevant regulatory authorities.
Adeyeye said KWASAA’s responsibility went beyond revenue generation, noting that the agency was committed to ensuring that advertising activities in the state promoted professionalism, public safety, environmental aesthetics and compliance with the law.
He therefore urged political parties, candidates, advertising practitioners, media organisations and security agencies to participate in the engagement, saying early collaboration would help prevent unauthorised campaign materials and structures, strengthen compliance and promote a peaceful, orderly and professionally regulated advertising environment ahead of the 2027 elections.
