UPDATED: Obasanjo urges Adeleke to sustain good governance during surprise visit

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday night paid a surprise congratulatory visit to Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, at his country home in Ede following his re-election.

The governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, who disclosed this in a statement, said Obasanjo, accompanied by Otunba Fasawe, was received by Adeleke with dancing and songs of praise to God for the successful outcome of the election.

Western Post had earlier reported the former president’s surprise visit to Adeleke following the governor’s re-election.

During the visit, the former president prayed for continued success for Adeleke and urged him to sustain good governance and the delivery of democratic dividends to the people of Osun State.

“Continue to deliver good governance. Continue to meet the needs of your people,” Obasanjo charged the governor.

Adeleke, who expressed surprise at the former president’s visit, thanked him for the gesture and pledged to remain committed to serving the people of the state.

“Baba, I thank you for this surprise visit. I promise never to disappoint God, Osun people and all lovers of democracy who made our victory possible,” he said.
