Osun lounge owner cries out after alleged police assault, demands justice

The Director of Chillax Zone Lounge and Blues, Mr. Adeyemi Adekunle Ayomide, has alleged that he was brutally assaulted by a police officer, urging authorities to investigate and bring those responsible to justice.

Adeyemi, whose lounge is located at Onward Hospital Junction, Agunbelewo, Osogbo, said the incident occurred on October 31, 2025, around 5:30 p.m., when a customer engaged his manager and three staff members in a discussion.

He said he asked the staff to return to their duty posts because it was rush hour and told the customer to deal only with the manager, who was the appropriate person to speak with. The customer reportedly took offense and questioned whether Adeyemi knew who he was.

According to him, minutes later, some men arrived in a car, one wearing a police jacket, and ordered him to sit on the floor. He refused, insisting that as the lounge owner, he should be formally invited to the station if he had done anything wrong.

Adeyemi said he was later taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department and then to the Anti-Robbery Section, where he discovered that the customer who confronted him was a police officer identified as Officer Yusuf, the second-in-command to the Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Robbery Squad.

“He told me to remove my clothes and slippers and started beating me with a cutlass and a big stick. I kept asking what I did wrong, but he said nothing. They beat me like a criminal. Up till now, nobody has told me what my offense was. I only told him to speak with my manager. That was all. I want justice,” he said.

The Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed that authorities have ordered a full investigation into the matter.

“We are aware of the incident. On the day it happened, I was informed, and upon further enquiry on Monday, the authorities decided on a full-scale investigation. The officer involved is currently under investigation,” Ojelabi stated.
