Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has urged health workers to show compassion and uphold professionalism while using the modern equipment provided in state hospitals.

He made the call during the inauguration of the newly renovated and equipped General Hospital, Ifaki-Ekiti, to mark his administration’s third anniversary.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, Oyebanji restated his commitment to improving healthcare delivery and warned residents against self-medication.

According to him, “Our doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, I urge you to make the best use of this facility and the equipment provided, deliver care with compassion, uphold the highest professional standards, and let this new environment inspire excellence.”

He said the government’s investment in health facilities was aimed at improving access to quality medical care, especially in rural areas, with new equipment such as anaesthesia machines, patient monitors, and defibrillators.

Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Olaskanmi Alabi, said five general hospitals had been renovated and equipped under the administration.

The Olufaki of Ifaki-Ekiti, Oba John Falore, thanked the governor for his quick response to the community’s call to rehabilitate the hospital, describing the transformation as a huge relief for residents.
