‎
‎The Osun State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Wednesday joined the nationwide protest against rising insecurity across the country, as labour leaders, civil society groups and youths took to the streets of Osogbo, the state capital, to demand urgent action from the government.
‎
‎Addressing journalists during the protest, the Osun State NLC Chairman, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, said insecurity in the country continues to worsen daily, adding that organised labour could no longer watch in silence as citizens are exposed to danger.
‎
‎Arapasopo noted that notice for the protest had been issued long before now to the federal government, stressing that the action was meant to raise awareness and call on governments at all levels to wake up to their constitutional responsibility of safeguarding Nigerians.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Osun State Coalition of Civil Society, Comrade Dr Waheed Lawal, called on the federal government to provide solutions to the issue of insecurity in Nigeria.

‎Lawal noted that the whole nation is in danger and lacks peace of mind because of insecurity, banditry and kidnapping troubling all states day and night.
‎
‎While condemning the closure of a regional office of the Amotekun Corps in the state, he urged the Osun State Government to address misconduct within the outfit by identifying and prosecuting offenders rather than shutting down offices.
‎
‎On his part, Comrade Farooq Sodiq, spokesperson of the Concerned Coalition of Nigerian Citizens (CCNC), said insecurity affects not only parents but also students and youths, noting that many corps members now fear going to their places of primary assignment due to kidnapping threats.
‎
‎The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu, stated that the government must prioritise the security of lives and property and promote the welfare of citizens to make life more bearable for Nigerians.
